Researchers working

Researchers believe umbilical cord blood holds promise as an important source of stem cells that could be used for potential medical therapies and treatments.

The Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Program at UC Davis can provide, at cost, non-clinical grade cord blood units (CBUs) to approved stem cell researchers for research pertaining to biology and new clinical uses of stem cells derived from cord blood.

To be considered a recipient of non-clinical grade CBUs, a researcher must establish their qualifications by providing:

  • Curriculum Vitae or NIH-style bio-sketch for the principal investigator and any collaborators, and
  • Summary of proposed research planned with CBUs.

CBUs designated as non-clinical grade will be packaged for transport and sent the same day by overnight mail. Depending on location, same day delivery may be an option.

All identifiable information will be removed prior to the release of the CBUs for research purposes.

To be added to the UCBCP list of researchers, call 844-734-CORD (2673) or 916-703-9316, or email ucbcp@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
