Graduate Studies

UC Davis Medical Center Dietetic Internship is not affiliated with a graduate program.  Therefore, we do not offer any credit towards a graduate degree.   Time away from the internship will not be given for graduate studies.  If interns wish to pursue graduate studies, classes must be taken around scheduled internship hours.  However, the UC Davis Medical Center Dietetic Internship is a full-time program, and due to the professional nature of the dietetic internship, interns should anticipate the need to spend additional time outside of the normal workday to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.

New Admission Requirements for 2024

Effective January 1, 2024, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will require a minimum of a master's degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). In addition, CDR requires that individuals complete coursework and supervised practice in programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

Applicants participating in the Spring 2023 or later dietetic internship match at University of California Davis Medical Center (i.e., beginning with the 2023-2024 DI year) will be required to complete a minimum of a Master's degree before the start of the internship. Graduates who successfully complete the ACEND-accredited dietetic internship at University of California Davis Medical Center are eligible to apply to take the CDR credentialing exam to become an RDN.
