The Pediatric End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) is a national initiative to improve end-of-life care (EOL) with the goal of achieving quality care at the end of life. The ELNEC core curriculum has been developed to provide end-of-life education to health-care providers, which translates into excellent care to pediatric patients and their families. Topics include: An introduction to palliative care, pain assessment and management, symptom management, ethical and legal issues, cultural considerations, and communication skills for end-of-life nursing care. Pain, Strategies for teaching loss, grief, and bereavement will also be discussed. Over the next few years, it is estimated that ELNEC-trained staff will touch the lives of six million patients and their families facing the end of life.

Virtual session requirements

Follow the virtual participation guidelines, including being on camera, engaging in activities, and attesting to participation.

C.E. contact hours

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 16.1 contact hours. Participants must attend both days to receive C.E. credit.

The UC Davis Health Center for Professional Practice of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

Registrations are confirmed only if deposit or fee is provided with registration form.

UC Davis employees

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Community registrants

$242 registration fee. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive a full refund. A $75 service fee will be charged after this date.
