At the same time, Dr. Tirado will continue to serve as an Associate Professor at UC Davis, where she has worked since 2011. CSA is very pleased to see Dr. Tirado join the Medical Board - a prestigious body that includes 8 physicians and 5 public members appointed by the Governor; 1 public member appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly; and 1 public member appointed by the Senate Rules Committee. She will be the sole anesthesiologist on the board.

Dr. Tirado grew up in Puerto Rico, where she attended college and medical school. She then completed her anesthesia residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston Massachusetts in 2006. After residency, Dr. Tirado worked in private practice in New York, Massachusetts and Texas, before joining UC Davis in 2011. She is currently part of the Neuroanesthesia team at UC Davis and is also very passionate about education.

“My interest has always been in education and helping to positively shape the future of medicine,” said Dr. Tirado. “My main message for med students and residents is to always care for the patients first, and to work together as a healthcare team to obtain the knowledge we need to provide the safest, most appropriate patient care possible.”

Dr. Tirado has been an active member in the California Society of Anesthesiologists, and even served as a media spokesperson for the society in a series of an on-camera interviews in Spanish for Univision in which she reinforced the need for a dedicated and qualified provider to administer and monitor anesthesia for young children undergoing dental surgery. The three part series is available here: part 1, part 2,and part 3.

Dr. Tirado is also a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, California Medical Association, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Tirado’s husband, Andrew Linn, MD, is a pain physician at Dignity Health – they have two young daughters who are 7 and 8 years old. As a family they like to explore California, visit the beach and mountains, stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Dr. Tirado and her husband are extra busy during this coronavirus pandemic, not only managing work but also navigating the adventures of homeschooling for their 2nd and 3rd graders.
