A full team of highly rated obstetricians is on-site 24/7, and an anesthesiologist is always on duty for pain or C-section. Our registered nurses have special training in normal and high-risk pregnancies and in newborn care.

Our hospital is recognized as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care. This designation demonstrates our expertise and commitment to quality care for vaginal and cesarean section deliveries; better overall patient satisfaction; and a lower percentage of early elective deliveries.

If mother or baby has a complication, we offer rapid access to subspecialists in high-risk obstetrics — many voted among the Sacramento region’s top doctors — to oversee prenatal care.
We also provide preconception consultations for women with high-risk concerns. You can continue pregnancy care with us, or we can co-manage with your primary obstetrician.

If your baby is born early or with a life-threatening disorder, our neonatology service can help support the best chance for a normal, healthy life.
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a level IV NICU (the highest level of care). And UC Davis Medical Center has received the Gold Level award for excellence in life support from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization.

We are currently the Sacramento region’s only center for on-site fetal surgery, developed to help save infants at their earliest stages and provide the best opportunity for quality of life.
Internationally known UC Davis Health fetal surgeons have the rare ability to operate inside the womb, or in real-time during the birthing process.
The nation’s highest nursing recognition
UC Davis Medical Center has received Magnet® nursing designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center — considered the country’s highest form of recognition for nursing excellence.
Only about 8 percent of U.S. hospitals have the designation, and UC Davis is the only in the Sacramento region.
Special support for early miscarriage and pregnancy loss
For women experiencing early miscarriage and other pregnancy loss issues, a multispecialty team of specialists in obstetrics, genetics and family planning is available to provide the region’s most up-to-date evaluation programs.
