UC Davis Health continues to be committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in every facet of its operations. One shining example of this commitment is the UC Davis Health Art Program which continuously enriches the spaces we inhabit with meaningful and representative artwork from local and regional artists.
The program serves as a reflection of the vibrant diversity within our staff, community, and geographic region. The information provided are artists that were selected and work that are displayed or to be displayed in the coming year. Since 2021 we are proud to see that our artist pool has grown, now welcoming nearly 90 incredible additional artists from a wide range of backgrounds! This expansion ensures that more voices are heard and represented, aligning our art collection with the unique stories and perspectives of those we serve.

Healing through representation
Art is not just decoration—it’s a medium that connects us to stories, emotions, and perspectives that shape our understanding of the world. By selecting pieces from diverse artists, UC Davis Health ensures that its facilities become more than functional spaces; they become places where individuals feel seen and valued.
This growth in artist representation includes individuals from various cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, as well as artists who explore unique techniques and forms of expression. The showcased artwork spans a variety of media, original works, and innovative applications.
Looking ahead: The California Tower Project
In alignment with the work of our Anchor Institution Mission, creating social, physical, and economic environments that promote attaining the full potential for health and well-being for all, inclusive artwork will continue to grow through the creation of the art program for the California Tower Project. This expansion will allow UC Davis Health to build upon its balanced collection, creating spaces that are not only visually inspiring but also deeply meaningful to the diverse community that interacts with these facilities.
This project represents a significant opportunity to broaden the scope of representation, inviting even more voices to contribute to the visual narrative of UC Davis Health. It is a testament to the belief that art can inspire connection and foster a sense of belonging among patients, staff, and visitors alike.
Creating equitable spaces for all
By showcasing a range of artists and techniques, UC Davis Health Art Program underscores its mission to create equitable spaces where everyone feels welcomed. These meaningful representations extend beyond visual appeal—they provide a sense of belonging and connection, reminding everyone who walks through the doors that they are part of a larger, inclusive community.
The intentionality behind this program is not just about curating beautiful artwork; it’s about building bridges between people, celebrating diversity, and ensuring that the spaces we occupy reflect the richness of our community.
UC Davis Health’s dedication to inclusive representation through its art program sets a powerful example of how institutions can actively foster diversity and connection. Through active participation and partnership with Facilities Planning and Development, the Small Business First efforts, and our Anchor Institution Mission, UC Davis Health continues to work on increasing representation – highlighting the creativity and talent of our local community.
