Hosted by Peking University First Affiliated Hospital and Beijing Tiantan Hospital, the summit provided an opportunity for leaders to discuss multiple areas of potential international partnership.

Cardiologist Brings Life-Saving Heart Care to India

Each year for the past 10 years, UC Davis Health physician Uma Srivatsa, who is from India, returns to her homeland with her colleagues to provide free health care to medically underserved populations. They perform electrophysiology studies and provide treatments for as many as 60 pediatric and adult patients during each medical mission.
National Institute on Aging Grant Focuses on Improving Alzheimer's and Family Caregiving Research in Vietnam

Thanks to funding from the National Institutes of Health, UC Davis Health will create a national Alzheimer’s research network in Vietnam and provide mentoring and pilot grant support to Vietnamese investigators conducting Alzheimer’s research. This will provide critical data for policymakers.

J. Nilas Young, chief of cardiothoracic surgery at UC Davis Health, has received a 2016 American College of Surgeons/Pfizer International Volunteerism Award for his work in developing heart surgery programs in Russia and South America. Young received the award, the highest honor for fellows of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) who provide volunteer care to medically underserved populations, on Oct. 18, 2016 at the ACS Clinical Congress in Washington, D.C.
