MORNING SESSIONS: JOURNAL CLUB REVIEW (MON – FRI, 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM)

Every morning (Monday – Friday) between 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM an attending will present a current or classic journal article for an interactive discussion (This is not a monologue session.)   It should serve as an addendum to your own reading in the field of Pain Medicine.

CHAPTER/TOPIC REVIEW (MONDAY, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)


On Monday from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM the staff, fellows, residents and medical student meet to discuss a "core topic" related to Pain Medicine.  This conference gives everyone an opportunity to systematically review the basics and specifics of pain management. CHRONIC NON-MALIGNANT PAIN CASE CONFERENCE (TUESDAY, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)


The purpose of this conference is to discuss interesting or diagnostically challenging patients with chronic, non-malignant pain who have been seen on the outpatient or inpatient service. 

RESIDENT AND MEDICAL STUDENT TEACHING SESSION (WEDNESDAY, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM) -- OPTIONAL


Every Wednesday from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, it will be optional for the Fellows to give the Resident(s) and medical student(s) an informal lecture on a Pain-related topic of his/her choice.


Occasionally, a guest speaker may be scheduled to give a presentation. When a guest speaker has been scheduled, attendance is mandatory for everyone.


CANCER PAIN CASE CONFERENCE (THURSDAY, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)


The purpose of this conference is to discuss interesting or diagnostically challenging patients with cancer pain who have been seen on the outpatient or inpatient service.  


INTERVENTIONAL PAIN CASE CONFERENCE/ CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI) CONFERENCE (FRIDAY, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)

The purpose of this conference is to review some of the interventional procedures performed during the prior week. It also provides us with the opportunity to discuss patients who have been recommended or scheduled for an implantable device.
