Dr. Stone's philosophy of care is rooted in team-based, multidisciplinary collaboration to provide coordinated care. He focuses on improving function and quality of life, with the primary goal of helping patients achieve the highest level of independence possible, even if it looks different than before. Dr. Stone emphasizes patient-centered care, encouraging patients to voice their goals and actively participate in directing their treatment. He is committed to ensuring that patients fully understand their conditions and all components of their treatment plans.
Dr. Stone is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician with a subspecialty in spinal cord injury medicine. He expertly manages the comprehensive care of patients with spinal cord injuries (traumatic and non traumatic), addressing complications such as bowel and bladder dysfunction, equipment needs, and spasms. In addition to providing clinical care, Dr. Stone performs specialized spasticity procedures, including botulinum toxin injections and intrathecal baclofen pump management for those with neurologic condition (ie stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy)
Dr. Stone's research interests include the impact of substance use disorder and pulmonary function in individuals with spinal cord injuries. He is also dedicated to educational research focused on feedback and developing effective educational tools for learners. Additionally, Dr. Stone advocates for policy changes to enhance accessibility of care and equipment for patients.
