Philosophy of Care

My goal is to accompany you on your brain injury recovery journey. I am open to creative, outside-the-box thinking and unconventional solutions. We will work together to make post-injury life as fulfilling as possible and adapt to new issues as they arise, using tools including rehabilitation, neuropsychology, medications, procedures, devices, and modified strategies to tackle life's many challenges. Maximizing your overall function and quality of life is my top priority.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Race is a PM&R physician specializing in brain injury medicine. He has a special clinical interest and expertise in traumatic and anoxic brain injuries, as well as advanced techniques for interventional spasticity and dystonia management. He practices across the continuum of care, following patients from the start of their ICU journey through neurorehabilitation, outpatient care, and community reintegration.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Race's research focuses on developing tools to predict outcomes and responses to interventions, particularly medications, following acquired brain injuries. He is especially interested in approaches to precision neuropharmacology following traumatic or anoxic brain injuries. He also has interest in psychosocial and behavior disturbances after brain injuries and advanced spasticity/dystonia management techniques.
