Curriculum

CA-1 Curriculum

  • Mastery of the basics of clinical anesthesia
  • Weekly Monday didactic sessions
  • Anesthesia knowledge test
  • Annual in-training examination
  • Clinical assignment to general anesthesia cases
  • Quarterly meeting with mentor

CA-2 Curriculum

  • Mastery of subspecialties of anesthesia: four-week rotations in cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, pain management, regional anesthesia, ambulatory anesthesia, post-care anesthesia, and transplant anesthesia
  • Two four-week critical care medicine rotations
  • Anesthesia knowledge test
  • Annual in-training examination
  • Clinical assignment to cases on subspecialty rotations, call on subspecialty rotations
  • Biannual meeting with mentor
  • Weekly Monday didactic sessions

CA-3 Curriculum

  • Weekly Monday didactic sessions, monthly mock oral session
  • Demonstrated mastery of general and subspecialty anesthesia
  • Demonstrated mastery of general and subspecialty anesthesia clinical and techniques
  • Demonstrated mastery of application of theoretical materials in the clinical setting
  • Rotation to Shriners Children Hospital
  • Four-week cardiac anesthesia rotation
  • Four-week pediatric anesthesia rotation
  • Anesthesia knowledge test
  • Annual in-training examination
  • Clinical assignment to advanced and complex cases, specialty and general call
