winter fruit salad in a bowl

In the Sacramento region, we're so fortunate to have so much fresh produce right in our backyard. You can find many winter citrus fruits at local farmers markets.

Sometimes we get overwhelmed thinking we have to spend hours in the kitchen preparing a holiday dish. When we are choosing fresh, local produce, everything taste so good on its own. You don't have to do a lot to it. Check out this simple fruit salad recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 bowl mandarin oranges
  • 1/2 bowl pomegranate
  • 1 cup assorted nuts, such as pistachios, almonds, or cashews, chopped (or more as desired)
  • Fresh mint for garnish

Preparation

  1. Toss all fruit and nuts in a bowl. For a beautiful visual display, use a large glass bowl for a nice floral look.
  2. Add fresh mint on the top for a garnish.
