We are joined by UC Davis pediatric otolaryngologist, Dr. Aditi Bhuskute who specialized in treatment for hearing loss and cochlear implantation. We review the complex anatomy of the ear and which structures are critical for hearing development and noise transmission. We review the importance of screening for hearing in newborns and at well-child visits. As well as talk about the most common types of hearing loss in kids and what strategies and procedures may be used to help a child who is deaf or hard of hearing.
