(SACRAMENTO)

The Capitol City Black Nurses Association hosted its 2nd Annual Scholarship and Black Excellence Gala on Sept. 23, recognizing Calene Roseman with the Collaborative Nurse Excellence Award.

The Capitol City Black Nurses Association honored Inpatient Unit Director Calene Roseman with the Collaborative Nurse Excellence Award.

Roseman, the Inpatient Unit Director for South 1 and East 3 at UC Davis Medical Center, received the award for her commitment to advancing future nurses through mentorship of underserved and underrepresented nursing students, as well as her service to and support of healthcare professionals, both within and outside of the nursing profession. Roseman has been a part of the UC Davis Health Patient Care Services team for more than 16 years, and the award is a testament to her incredible leadership and the exemplary care she provides to patients and the community.

Toby Marsh, Chief Nursing and Patient Care Services Officer said, “The impact of Calene’s patient care, as well as her leadership, collaboration, and compassion, are felt throughout UC Davis Health, our community, and beyond. I am truly grateful for her leadership and the difference she makes to our patients and their families each day.”

CCBNA advocates for the needs of nurses and an increase in health outcomes in communities where health disparities persist by creating sustainable programs that improve opportunities for nurses, nursing students, and future generations of nurses through scholarships, accountability, and health equity. The gala honored local nurse leaders, awarded scholarships, and showcased nursing excellence in the Sacramento region while supporting the future black nurses in the community.
