As a neonatologist, I care for fragile newborns who need specialized support in their earliest days of life. My philosophy centers on individualized, physiology-based care tailored to each baby’s unique needs. I believe parents are essential members of the care team, and I am committed to clear communication, compassionate guidance, and shared decision-making so you feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout your baby’s NICU journey. Outside the NICU, I enjoy reading, which helps me appreciate diverse perspectives and connect more meaningfully with the families I serve.
Dr. Chan is a board-certified neonatologist providing comprehensive care for preterm and critically ill newborns with complex cardiopulmonary and hemodynamic conditions. She has special clinical expertise in neonatal point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), targeted neonatal echocardiography (TnECHO), and physiology-based management of respiratory and cardiovascular instability. Her work integrates advanced imaging into real-time clinical decision-making in the NICU, including lung, cardiac, and abdominal ultrasound applications. Dr. Chan also has particular interest in neonatal resuscitation, pulmonary hypertension, surfactant optimization, and hemodynamic assessment to individualize care for vulnerable infants.
Dr. Chan’s academic work focuses on advancing precision, physiology-based care for preterm and critically ill neonates through integration of innovative technologies into daily NICU practice. Her research centers on neonatal point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), targeted neonatal echocardiography (TnECHO), cardiopulmonary hemodynamics, and ultrasound-guided assessment of lung, cardiac, and intestinal function, with an emphasis on improving real-time decision-making during resuscitation and critical illness. She also has strong educational and quality improvement interests in developing structured POCUS training programs, neonatal nutrition, non-invasive pulse oximetry monitoring, and respiratory care.
