Food and Nutrition Services provides high-quality nutrition and healthcare services to meet the needs of our patients, guests, staff, and our community. We are committed to excellent patient service, providing more than 650,000 meals per year to patients within UC Davis Health. Our team of dietetic assistants calls or visits daily to get patient meal selections from over 40 different menu types.

UC Davis Health’s registered dietitians offer nutrition education to community members by participating in various outreach programs, including health fairs and school career days, and serving as guest speakers for community groups.
UC Davis Health Food and Nutrition Service is proud to be named a Circle of Excellence Honoree in the Food Circle. This award highlights leaders in sustainable food services, capturing leadership in meat reduction, procurement of better meat, local and sustainable sourcing, improving access to tap water and healthy beverages, supporting healthy food access, and preventing food waste.
UC Davis Health Food and Nutrition Services is the only hospital recognized by the James Beard Foundation as a Smart Catch Leader for our commitment to purchasing sustainable seafood. We are proud of our commitment to making mindful seafood purchases to help keep our oceans healthy for future generations.
In 2019 our culinary program was the only hospital location to be recognized as a participant in the Good Food 100 Restaurants Program, which celebrates restaurants helping to build a better food system by being transparent with their business practices and positively impacting every link of the food chain.
