The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Management Rotation is a one-month rotation that is attended by all 3rd and 4th year residents and given every other year.  The course includes didactic sessions each morning given by individuals in senior leadership positions from the UC Davis Health System, the UC Davis Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the Sacramento County Health Department, the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, and affiliated laboratories and reference laboratories.  These sessions focus on the Core Competencies and Curriculum detailed (see link).  In conjunction with the didactic sessions, reading assignments (Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Management binder) are required before each session.  In addition, the residents are required to perform several projects in teams and present results (e.g. JC tracer project).  Lastly, each resident is required to develop and complete an academic Curriculum Vitae that will be critiqued by the course director at the end of the rotation.
