Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Pan is a pediatrician and former California legislator with over 35 years of experience in health care, public health and health policy with a focus on social determinants of health and health workforce. As a California legislator, Dr. Pan chaired the Assembly and Senate Committees on Health, including authoring legislation to implement the Affordable Care Act and promote public health, and the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services overseeing California's $163 billion annual health and human services budget. He is currently developing policies to improve health care affordability and the health workforce.
