Research/Academic Interests
Brad Pollock, PhD, MPH, FACE, is a Distinguished Professor of Epidemiology and Chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of California (UC) Davis School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology. Previously he was the Founding Chair of the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and was previously on the faculty of the University of Florida. He received his B.S. in biological sciences from UC Irvine, and his MPH and PhD degrees in epidemiology from the UCLA School of Public Health.
Dr. Pollock is the Principal Investigator of the Children’s Oncology Group National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Research Base, a $40 million grant supporting a network of almost all North American cancer treatment sites devoted to childhood and adolescent cancer research. Dr. Pollock is a leading researcher on the epidemiology and control of childhood and adolescent cancers. He has also been in leadership roles for the National Institutes of Health-sponsored Clinical Translational Science Award Consortium.
Dr. Pollock previously served as the Chair of the UC Systemwide Public Health COVID-19 Work Group, and as Director of Healthy Davis Together, a large demonstration project involving the City of Davis and UC Davis in partnership. Healthy Davis Together employed a model for applying integrated response and recovery strategies to combat COVID-19 in the community, including K-12 schools as well as special populations such as the unsheltered, those in congregate living facilities, and migrant farmworkers.
