Head and neck surgeon Debbie Aizenberg appointed UC Davis Medical Group executive director

Debbie Aizenberg, clinical professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, has been appointed executive director of the UC Davis Medical Group. She’ll serve a three-year term.

“Dr. Aizenberg was unanimously endorsed by the medical group’s executive council and has done an outstanding job as interim executive director of the UC Davis Medical Group since stepping into that role in October 2022,” said David Lubarsky, CEO of UC Davis Health and vice chancellor for human health sciences. “We look forward to her continued valuable contributions to help UC Davis Health deliver the best care to our patients. With our leadership and teams working so well together, UC Davis Health is singularly focused on improving and evolving how we continue to serve our patients and communities.”

The UC Davis Medical Group represents all organized medical group practices and primary and specialty care faculty physicians. Aizenberg will continue to provide oversight of the physician practice operations and help develop the medical group’s overall vision and strategic direction.

“Dr. Aizenberg is a dynamic leader and collaborator with the right experience to help UC Davis Health find new ways to optimize our patient-centered care and improve the health of our community,” said Susan Murin, interim dean of the UC Davis School of Medicine.

Specifically, Aizenberg will continue to work closely with the UC Davis Medical Group Board and UC Davis Health leadership. They’ll work together to enhance clinical operations and optimize care through a collaborative approach to planning and delivery of coordinated, patient-centered clinical services.

She will also continue as the associate chief medical officer for ambulatory care and is responsible for improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and access to UC Davis Health’s ambulatory practices.
