UC Davis Health opens Sacramento’s first rehab hospital

Partnership between UC Davis Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation brings state-of-the-art inpatient care to medical center campus

(SACRAMENTO)

UC Davis Health announced today the grand opening of a 52-bed rehabilitation hospital on the Sacramento medical center campus. It is the first such freestanding facility in Sacramento County and represents a second fully licensed hospital on the UC Davis Sacramento Campus. 

The 58,000-square-foot facility more than doubles the inpatient rehabilitation capacity formerly available at UC Davis Medical Center. It is equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units where patients can practice typical activities of daily living. The rehabilitation hospital also includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients.

The hospital, located at the corner of Broadway and 49th Street in Sacramento, also features:

  • Aquired brain injury unit with private dining and therapy gym
  • A specialized suite with a therapy kitchen and laundry area to simulate a home to prepare patients for their daily living tasks before they are discharged 
  • Therapy gymnasiums outfitted with the latest technology in therapy devices, including augmented reality balance training, therapy bionics and a full-body exoskeleton
  • Dialysis suite
  • Therapeutic courtyard with bocce ball, pickleball, nature therapy, seating options and walking paths on varied surfaces

The hospital was developed by Lifepoint Rehabilitation, which operates more than 35 freestanding rehabilitation facilities in 19 states. The hospital is staffed by employees from UC Davis Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation.

Lifepoint Rehabilitation is known for its inpatient care model.
