UC Davis Health Veterans Employee Association honors heroes with Wreaths Across America

(SACRAMENTO)

On December 14, members of the UC Davis Health Veterans Employee Association (VEA), a UC Davis Health Employee Resource Group, took part in the annual Wreaths Across America event at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery and Camellia Memorial Lawn Cemetery. They were joined by colleagues, friends and family as they honored veterans by laying wreaths at their graves, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered and their legacies live on.

Dozens of volunteers, including those from UC Davis Health, joined others across the region to place wreaths on the resting places of fallen service members. Each wreath was laid with care, accompanied by a solemn moment of reflection, a name spoken aloud, and gratitude for their service. The event is part of a nationwide tradition. It exemplifies the power of community and shared respect for those who have given so much for our freedom.

“It was truly humbling to stand among so many who came to honor and remember our nation’s heroes,” shared Greg Stanford, vice chair of the VEA. “Wreaths Across America reminds us of the sacrifices made for our country and the importance of keeping their stories alive.”

The Veterans Employee Association extended its heartfelt thanks to all who volunteered their time and energy to support and celebrate veterans' contributions.

The group noted that Wreaths Across America is a powerful reminder that no veteran should ever be forgotten. The VEA plans to continue this tradition in the years to come.
