Order Choice: Immunodiffusion w/ Reflex to Complement Fixation– SERUM, CSF, and BODY FLUIDS

Recommended for New Diagnosis

Qualitative immunodiffusion screen for presence of IgM and IgG antibodies specific to Coccidioides. If any observable reactions are present, a quantitative test for IgG will be performed.

Complement fixation (CF) is performed first as the quantitative test.  In the event of insufficient volume or equivocal or anticomplementary results by complement fixation methods, a quantitative immunodiffusion will be performed to determine the titer.

If the CF test is positive, residual specimen is frozen by us for later simultaneous testing with a new specimen to control for variability in the CF test (PRVEII). Residual specimen is saved for approximately 4-6 months.

Qualitative (IgM and IgG) and Quantitative (IgG) detection of antibodies specific to Coccidioides by immunodiffusion and complement fixation methods.

A qualitative immunodiffusion test is performed internally for accurate complement fixation serial dilutions and quality control purposes.

If the CF test is positive, residual specimen is frozen by us for later simultaneous testing with a new specimen to control for variability in the CF test (PRVEII). Residual specimen is saved for approximately 4-6 months.

Recommended for close monitoring of known positive with frequent collections

This is not a standalone test and must be ordered with the Coccidioides Serology Panel or Complement Fixation (SERUM) order choice.

The previously received specimen positive for coccidioidal IgG by complement fixation is retested as an internal control to account for natural variation in serology testing. Both results are released to help monitor subtle changes in patient titers. Residual specimen is saved for approximately 4-6 months.
