About Health Equity by Design for Inclusive Excellence | UC Davis Health

About Us

Common terms

Health Equity means that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. This requires removing obstacles to health such as poverty, discrimination, and their consequences, including powerlessness and lack of access to good jobs with fair pay, quality education and housing, safe environments, and health care.

Diversity is a defining feature of the University of California, and we embrace it as a source of strength. Our differences — of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, socioeconomic status, abilities, experience, and more — enhance our ability to achieve the university’s core missions of public service, teaching, and research. We welcome faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and want everyone at UC to feel respected and valued.

Inclusion means we honor, respect, embrace, and value the unique contributions and perspectives of all employees, patients, students, volunteers, and our local and global communities.  It also includes removing barriers to individual success.

Campus Climate is the current attitudes, behaviors, and standards of faculty, staff, administrators, and students concerning the level of respect for individual needs, abilities, and potential.
