We offer advanced single balloon enteroscopy services, a procedure that can be used by our gastroenterologists for diagnostic and treatment purposes. This procedure allows a gastroenterologist to examine the entire small bowel beyond the reach of standard endoscope. It allows for treatment of bleeding lesions, polypectomy and biopsies in the areas of the bowel that are out of reach of the standard endoscopy.
Our intestinal rehabilitation program is unique to Northern California and includes a dedicated clinical nurse practitioner, two pediatric home health nurses, two dietitians and a social worker. The program focuses on nutrition, growth and development for short bowel syndrome and TPN (total parenteral nutrition)-dependent children, while also providing education for parents on how to care for their kids at home after discharge from the hospital.
We offer medical acupuncture as a treatment adjunct for several gastrointestinal conditions including chronic abdominal pain, chronic nausea and anxiety related to GI conditions.
UC Davis Children’s Hospital offers rare esophageal manometry and anorectal manometry capabilities. Our motility testing services are helpful for diagnosis for severe but non-specific GI symptoms, and for decisions about medical management versus surgery.
Families have access to the region’s only pediatric gastroenterology services with the added convenience of two clinic locations.
