Philosophy of Care

My goal is to make all of my patients and their families in the Emergency Department feel comforted, well-cared for, respected and heard. I want to hear what your concerns are and come up with a plan together how we can best address those concerns while in the Emergency Department. Our goal together should be to rule out any life-threatening or emergent diagnoses while also helping to navigate the health care system to get appropriate follow up.

Clinical Interests

Dr. McBeth is an emergency medicine physician who completed a two-year fellowship in Ultrasound and Global Health. She is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and achieved Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography. She is the Director for International Ultrasound and the co-director for the Global Health Area of Distinction for Emergency Medicine residents, as well as Director of Resident Ultrasound Education for Emergency Medicine. Dr. McBeth has special interest in performance improvement, resident education, diversity and equity, and teaching ultrasound in low-resource settings and developing emergency medicine as a specialty in low-resource countries. She has been actively involved in project in Uganda, Belize, Nepal, The Gambia, Laos and Vietnam.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. McBeth's research interests include using ultrasound to improve medical education both internationally and in local health systems. This research includes using ultrasound in low-resource settings to create protocols to make faster diagnoses and to see how this work can improve patient outcomes. It also includes finding the most efficient ways to teach providers how to utilize ultrasound and maximize retention of skills.
