Philosophy of Care

Sometimes life gets overwhelming, especially when you are about to bring a new baby home. I see patient's in clinic to address a variety of life circumstances that may be affecting a families ability to get the best out of their life. My goal is to empower you with the education, tools, and resources to have your needs met as a mother, a partner and a woman. I will partner with you to uncover your strengths, resiliency, and problem-solving abilities.

In my spare time I enjoy playing with my daughter and having date nights with my husband. As a family we love to go camping and enjoy popcorn and movie nights. On my own I enjoy yoga, crafting, and going to comedy shows with friends.

Clinical Interests

Brenna Rizan is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in perinatal social work and maternal mental health. She is a collaborative team member in the Obstetric clinics located in the Ellison and Glassrock buildings. She has a special clinical interest in trauma-based interventions for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and perinatal grief and loss.

Research/Academic Interests

Brenna is a member is the Sacramento Maternal Mental Health Collaborative with the mission to collaborate to develop and maintain an equitable system of prevention, identification, and treatment services addressing the full spectrum of maternal mental health conditions in Sacramento County.
