Training for Faculty Search Committee Members
Reminders from the Vice Provost
Search Committee Chair Survey - Starting in 2018-2019, completion of the survey is required in order for a department to submit a Search Report. The survey becomes available in UC Recruit to Search Committee Chairs as soon as an open search has applicants. Completion of the survey is required in order to submit the Search Report in UC Recruit.
Required STEAD-certification for Members of Faculty Recruitment Committees
Strength through Equity & Diversity (STEAD) certification expires after three academic years. For example, a faculty member who participated in STEAD or School of Medicine workshops during the 2021-22 academic year will retain certification until June 30, 2025.
- School of Medicine/School of Nursing faculty may also participate in the STEAD program to become certified.
- Non-UC Davis members of a search committee must also be certified.
Workshops
Faculty Search Committee workshops are offered both in person and virtually in Davis and Sacramento and either training option fulfills the training requirement to serve on a faculty search committee.
Sacramento
The Enhanced Training for Faculty Search Committee workshop aims to identify factors that can introduce bias into the faculty recruitment process and provides evidence-based approaches that will maximize the likelihood that excellent and diverse candidates will be identified, selected for offers and recruited onto the UC Davis faculty.

Davis
Strength through Equity & Diversity (STEAD) Faculty Search Committee Workshops are offered on the Davis campus. These workshops also fulfill the workshop requirement for faculty who serve on search committees in Sacramento.
