Philosophy of Care

I am committed to providing all of my patients with the highest level of care by utilizing state-of-the-art surgical and non-surgical treatments. My goal is to treat patients from all backgrounds in a compassionate and comprehensive manner. As a NorCal native who enjoys running, hiking, and cycling, I understand the importance of getting my patients back to doing the things that they love, whether that means competitive athletics or daily activities.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Freshman is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who specializes in treating conditions of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He has clinical expertise in both arthroscopic (minimally invasive) and open procedures, with strong interests in knee ligament reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, and hip arthroscopy. Dr. Freshman has experience in treating elite athletes, having previously served as an assistant team physician for the USC Trojans and Los Angeles Kings. 

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Freshman has published on numerous topics in sports medicine relating to the shoulder, hip, and knee, and routinely presents his work at national research meetings. He has particular interests in shoulder replacement outcomes, postoperative pain control, and surgical innovation. Beyond his research, Dr. Freshman enjoys mentoring the next generation of medical students and residents.
