Traveling, playing and watching cricket, photography, following global news

Reason for selecting UC Davis for Residency:
I felt the friendly atmosphere with supportive residents and faculty when I visited for interview. On top of that, it is a major academic center with the opportunity to see good number of cases as well complex cases, great location in northern California- access to nature and big cities, and affordable living.

Clinical Interests

  • Transfusion Medicine
  • Dermatopathology
  • GI Pathology
  • Molecular Genetics

Research Interests

  • Identify novel molecular target(s) in different cancers
  • Develop and validate new point-of-care testing
  • CART cell therapy in cancers/autoimmune diseases

CV Highlights/Brief Biography:

Anupam grew up in a big city (Kolkata) in India and finished his graduate medical education from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, the first non-governmental medical college established in Asia (1886). After M.B.B.S., he did a specialization (equivalent to fellowship) in clinical pharmacology (M.D.) and worked as a co-investigator in several phase III clinical trials in diabetes. To better understand the pathogenesis of human autoimmune skin and joint diseases, after finishing M.D. he joined UC Davis as a postdoctoral fellow and worked for few years before joining residency. His translational research work established the pathological role of IL-22 and mTOR signaling pathway in psoriatic disease, rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma.
