Erdembileg “Beke” Chuluunerdene, M.D.

Resident, PGY 1

Medical School:
American University of the Caribbean (AUC)

Personal Interests:
My interest in cycling can be traced back to my triathlon days at college. Recently, I found myself reliving this passion on a memorable bicycle trip across the scenic Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The trip not only involved touring various whisky distilleries but also reveling in the breath-taking beauty of the islands. These days, my cycling interests are leaning more towards mountain biking.

Reason for Choosing UC Davis:
Choosing UC Davis for my Pathology residency was motivated by a combination of two major factors. The first of these was the exceptional quality of education offered by the institution, well-regarded among residents especially for its comprehensive board review materials. The second factor was its ideal geographic location. Located in California, UC Davis presents a delightful blend of city life and nature. The proximity to the Sierra mountains offers the perfect opportunity for occasional restorative getaways.

Clinical Interests:

While I am still exploring and defining my clinical interests, I find my interest gravitating towards surgical and thoracic pathology. As an 'undifferentiated' resident, I am open to various sub-specialties, but the aforementioned areas seem to resonate more with me.

Research Interests:

The world of digital pathology is fascinating. An article recently published by Dr. Borowsky discussing slide-free digital imaging piqued my interest. With the advent of deep learning algorithms set to revolutionize both morphology and genomics, this is an area that I am eager to delve deeper into.

CV Highlights / Brief Biography:

I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of California, San Diego. My connection with nature, a vestige of my Mongolian heritage, has led me to travel globally in search of breath-taking natural beauty. As a resident at UC Davis, I am excitedly looking forward to a promising future in pathology.
