Research at UC Davis Health

Researchers at work

UC Davis Health is on the leading edge of a number of medical advancements because of the quality of our research, who we are and how we work together. Clinical research is welcomed with open arms in every corner of our organization. Much of our research is aimed at developing tools, treatments and therapies that will directly help patients.

For UC Davis Health, it’s not only about taking the lead – we also want to do our part to advance research in not just health and medicine, but also in the environment, artificial intelligence and robotics.

Major areas of research

Major areas of research include some of UC Davis Health's most innovative programs with research guidance and support offered by UC Davis School of MedicineUC Davis Medical Center and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis.

Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) — Established with a Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health, the center is transforming how scientists and clinicians are trained and conduct clinical and translational research so new treatments reach patients more quickly and efficiently.

CTSC staff provide faculty, staff and trainees with infrastructure and operations support to facilitate grant writing, research design, fiscal and protocol compliance, as well as data management in the conduct of clinical and translational research.

Clinical Trials — Includes general information about participating in clinical trials and research studies, as well as information on active and recruiting trials and studies at UC Davis.

Human Subjects Research - IRB Administration — Provides education, training, administrative and record-keeping support, and conducts quality improvement audits for the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

The IRB is a campus-wide committee established to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects in research studies conducted by UC Davis.

School of Medicine Office of Research — Facilitates and oversees research activity involving School of Medicine faculty, operating under the leadership of the Associate Dean for Research in the Office of the Dean. The Office of Research provides a number of resources for investigators and administrators including:

Research departments, centers and programs — Showcases individual centers and programs and what they're doing to advance research.

Research training programs and career development opportunities — UC Davis Health offers many exciting research training and career development opportunities for faculty as well as clinical and research fellows.

Stem Cell Program — Brings together resources from across the university to ensure that bench research – the work done in laboratories – can be translated successfully into clinical treatments.
