My educational background is diverse. I graduated from the American University of Beirut medical school in Beirut Lebanon. I completed my general surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston-Texas where I was involved in various aspects of medical students’ education as well as a member of the education sub-committee in GME.
I also possess a strong research background as I spent 2 years in clinical outcomes and database research in colon and rectal surgery at the University of California-Irvine. I did a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Baylor in Dallas where I gained extensive experience in different aspects of surgical approaches from open to laparoscopic and robotic as well as managing complex colon and rectal patients.
Dr. Halabi's clinical interests are key advanced laparoscopic skills: bariatric procedures/revisions, colon resections, inguinal/ventral hernia, complex foregut and bariatric surgery experience: RYGB, sleeve gastrectomy, lap band, revisional bariatric cases. He has an interest in complex abdominal wall reconstruction, such as anterior and posterior component separation and performing robotic complex abdominal wall reconstruction.
