Philosophy of Care

Dr. Loomba believes strongly in evidence based medicine, but also in tailoring the treatment plan to the individual patient and family. She values open communication and strives to make sure that families understand both the big picture and the details of the medical condition being evaluated/treated. A new medical diagnosis in a child is often a time of stress for families; she recognizes that stress and will do her best to help ease fears. When a child has a particularly rare condition, she values seeking input from outside experts.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Loomba offers care for children with a wide range of endocrine conditions, including type 1 diabetes, thyroid disease and disorders of growth and puberty. She has a longstanding interest in genetics and human development, and has a particular interest in endocrine conditions in children with genetic conditions (including children with differences in sexual development).

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Loomba is active in research looking into how family functioning affects blood sugar control in children with type 1 diabetes. She staffs a multidisciplinary clinic with pediatric urology (for children with genital differences) and coordinates transgender care with adolescent medicine. She has a monthly outreach clinic in Chico, CA to bring easier access to specialty care to more rural communities.
