Each patient should receive care tailored to their specific needs. This may look different patient to patient but will be the highest level of care without fail. In order to achieve these needs, I am constantly balancing cutting edge, technology and weighing that against traditional approaches that have a proven track record.
This care is for the patient to prevent catastrophic problems or improve quality of life. Patient and patient family members should be armed with the information they need to make the best choice they can regarding care for their own body. Working together with all of the great staff at UC Davis Health, I am confident we can deliver upon that promise.
Dr. Barleben specializes in open and minimally invasive end of vascular treatment for arterial and venous disease. His primary clinical interest is in the minimally, invasive treatment of complex thoracic and abdominal aortic disease. He has a particular interest in aortic arch, thoracoabdominal and visceral aneurysms for patients who are too unhealthy to undergo traditional open surgery. He also is focused on complex central venous disease from DVT for which there is commonly no open surgical option.
His research has focused on minimizing the need for follow up surgeries to maintain complex aortic repairs and minimizing complications from surgery of the aorta, carotid artery and central veins. He also collaborates with engineering to develop models of aortic disease as well as novel techniques to treat aortic arch disease.
