Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Timmer’s research and publications have focused on the effectiveness of parenting interventions for vulnerable families. She has investigated the effectiveness of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for traumatized children, PCIT training and implementation in county mental health systems. She also co-developed a brief parenting intervention, Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE), and is engaged in evaluating its effectiveness and in training others to provide the treatment.
