I feel privileged to get to help patients and families navigate the diagnosis and management of kidney disease. Coming to the doctor can be difficult for anyone, especially when a child is sick. I strive to create a safe environment for patients and families to ask questions, share their stories, and form a treatment plan together guided by scientific evidence.
Dr. Hawkins is a pediatric nephrologist providing care for a diverse range of kidney conditions in children, such as high blood pressure, inherited kidney disease, and acute and chronic kidney disease. She cares for patients with kidney failure requiring dialysis and kidney transplant. Dr. Hawkins is especially interested in caring for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease.
Dr. Hawkins’ academic work focuses on health policy and advocacy. She is interested in examining how healthcare systems and government policies can improve quality of care and access to care for pediatric patients.
