Implicit Bias Education for Nurses

This learning experience focuses on implicit biases, so that we can better understand the experiences of our patients and become more effective health care providers.

This course is designed for compliance with California Assembly Bill 1407, stating that a Board of Registered Nursing licensee must complete one hour of direct participation in an implicit bias course within the first two years of holding their license, codified in California Statute under Business and Professions Codes 2811.5 and 2786.

This course includes content on the identification of previous or current unconscious biases and misinformation, corrective measures to decrease implicit bias, information on communicating more effectively across identities, and more. The module will be reviewed by July 24, 2026.

• Participate in all activities
• Pass the post-test with a score of 80% or higher
• Complete evaluation and attestation
• The online module and learning activities will take approximately 1 hour
