Jan Shepard, M.S.N., R.N., N.P.D.-B.C., C.C.R.N.
Jan Shepard, M.S.N., R.N., N.P.D.-B.C., C.C.R.N., received her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University in 1992. She started at UC Davis Medical Center as a new grad on East-4, Orthopedics/General Surgery Acute Care Unit.
In 1995 she accepted a position in the Neurosurgical ICU, where she worked for 17 years. As a staff nurse, she presented at many national and international conferences, received her CCRN nursing certification, taught at the Critical Care Curiosum and started a multi-disciplinary journal club.
In 2012, she joined the PCS, Quality and Safety Department with her primary focus on Sepsis. The role quickly evolved to cover all areas of quality and safety. While she was in the Q&S position, she obtained her master’s degree in Informatics from Grand Canyon University and a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Villanova University. She was the chair for the Quality and Safety Council, co-chair for the hospital-wide CAUTI committee, and a Falls committee member. To further define Falls in the Emergency Department, she created a Falls dashboard using the NDNQI definitions.
As a member of CPPN, she is excited to support nurses with their professional growth and development.
