Special Projects Coordinator, California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP) and the COVID-19 Engagement Alliance (CEAL) STOP COVID-19

As a Special Projects Coordinator for the Center for Reducing Health Disparities at UC Davis Health, Joseph is responsible for supporting & coordinating the California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP) and the COVID-19 Engagement Alliance (CEAL).

Joseph’s specialty focuses around community, health, advocacy and outreach; especially working within communities who are often underserved and underrepresented. Before joining the team Joseph served as a Community Building Program Assistant at Stanford University Office of Diversity in Medical Education. Joseph joined CRHD in November 2022. Joseph is looking forward to the exciting opportunities to build and grow as a community. 

Joseph is a first-generation Latino scholar who recently graduated with dual degrees in Cellular & Molecular Biology (B.S.) and Latina/o/X Studies (B.A.) from San Francisco State University. Joseph’s pronouns are He/Him/El, and he acknowledges the indigenous peoples whose land he grew up in, which is sacred Ohlone/Yokuts land (referred to as East Bay Area). Joseph is also on his personal journey of applying to medical school soon to become a culturally competent family medicine physician.

Joseph’s reason to why he does Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work is because he truly believes that in community, we have the capacity to create positive change & impact around the world for generations to come.

Joseph values genuine connections, family, mutual respect, and empathy. He also enjoys dancing, hiking, playing soccer, quality time with friends and trying new foods!
