Yanele Ledesma serves as the Community Outreach and Communications Coordinator at the UC Davis Health Center for Reducing Health Disparities. A proud University of California, Davis alumna, she earned dual degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (B.S.) and Sociology with an emphasis in Social Services (B.A.). Yanele brings deep experience in community-engaged research, public health communications, and health equity advocacy.

Prior to her current role, served as a long-time Clinical Volunteer and Community Outreach Chair at Knights Landing One Health Center, where she expanded a weekly “Resource Table” program- addressing food and hygiene insecurity among migrant farmworker communities- through strategic community-organization partnerships aimed at long-term sustainability. Her broader research experience includes an undergraduate honors thesis on Valley Fever disparities and public health messaging in California. Recently, Yanele contributed as a co-author to a UC Davis dermatology study examining disparities in skin cancer risk factors and healthcare access among Latine patients. Her work is deeply informed by her own experiences growing up, which shaped her commitment to culturally responsive and community-driven solutions.

Yanele is passionate about building bridges between underserved communities and the health systems that serve them. Fluent in English and Spanish, she supports culturally and linguistically tailored outreach, manages the Center’s social media presence, and leads collaborative engagement efforts with community-based organizations.
