The All of Us Research Program, led by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is an exciting effort to speed up health research by enrolling over one million people across the United States. The goal of the program is to create one of the largest and most varied collections of health data ever gathered. They hope to include everyone, reflecting the differences in people's genes, lifestyles, and environments. As of February 2024, nearly half of the participants come from different racial or ethnic groups, and 80% represent communities that haven't been part of health studies much before. Since 2018, UC Davis Health, led by Professor Alexander Borowsky, has been a big part of this effort, with over 9,600 people joining as of January 2024. If you want to learn more about joining, click HERE.
In 2022, our center partnered with the Clinical and Translational Sciences Center (CTSC) Community Engagement Program, backed by funding from the National Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Partners for the Advancement of Community Engaged Research (PACER) Community Network, to join the All of Us initiative. Our goal is to make it easier for people at UC Davis and in the community to use All of Us data. We want students, researchers, and healthcare teams to use this data to learn more about different health conditions and groups of people. This will help improve healthcare for everyone. Nationally, over 8,000 researchers from all backgrounds are part of the All of Us program.
Additionally, the All of Us CTSA-PACER Community Network (CPCN) is crucial for reaching beyond just academics. Our network includes leaders from seven other national organizations. Together, we're creating easy-to-understand information about health research to help everyone understand its importance. Our aim is to get more people interested and involved in research.
Through projects like this, we are not only speeding up scientific discoveries but also making sure that everyone is included in healthcare research.
