Dear Colleagues,
Principles of Community Week, also known as POC Week, starts on Monday, Feb. 27, and runs through Saturday, March 4.
During the week, you’ll have opportunities to dance, learn, share lived experiences in psychologically safe spaces, and get to know your colleagues at a deeper, more meaningful level.
For over a decade, employee resource groups, departments, and DEI committees have hosted POC Week on the Davis and Sacramento campuses in February. The highly energized week, inspired by the UC Davis Principles of Community, showcases our commitment to diversity and inclusion through various community-building events and activities.
We’ll kick off POC Week with an opening ceremony via Zoom at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 27. David Lubarsky, Vice Chancellor of Human Health Sciences and CEO for UC Davis Health, and I will provide welcoming and closing remarks. You’ll hear from a few of our Davis campus leaders, too.
There are dozens of occasions to connect with our UC Davis community throughout the year; however, POC Week is extraordinary. Not only does it create a space for us to gather and celebrate our diversities, but it also presents us the opportunity to reflect – and act – on how to create a more equitable, just, and inclusive community for all.
