Conflict Competence Workshops for Academics

Presented by UC Davis Office of the Ombuds

Conflict has the power to reduce productivity, strain relationships, and impact morale. However, if managed constructively, conflict can strengthen collaboration, foster creativity, and contribute to a high functioning, successful team. These interactive workshops provide tools, techniques, and skills to effectively prevent and resolve conflicts with a special focus on research and clinical conflict. You will learn how to recognize conflict before it escalates, navigate interpersonal dynamics, build trust, and navigate difficult conversations.

Developing Resilient Research Collaborations

Successful research often relies on collaborations – with trainees, with colleagues, and with external partners. Learn to proactively establish and maintain collaborative relationships as well as employ strategies for creative problem solving when conflicts emerge on research projects. There will be examples from the biomedical, clinical, and social sciences but this workshop should be relevant for other disciplines as well.
