We encourage residents and students to pursue research while at UC Davis. Our faculty often collaborate with residents, medical students, graduate and undergraduate students on research or quality improvement activities. Interested trainees are encouraged to reach out to faculty to discuss research interests and ideas. Here are some examples of resident or other trainee projects that have been presented at national conferences or published in the peer-reviewed literature.
A UC Davis medical student takes to a national audience of family medicine physicians to advocate for better health care access for people experiencing homelessness. The student received invaluable guidance from several mentors from the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
A fourth-year medical student's abstract was accepted for a presentation at a conference hosted by the North American Primary Care Research Group. The presentation stems from a paper on low back pain imaging and clinician communication. The student's collaborators on the project include faculty members from the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
