Health classes

Our dietitians are involved with a variety of nutrition classes within the health system on a variety of topics. Health classes are available for UC Davis patients and staff.

The UC Davis Bariatric Surgery Clinic support group meetings are open to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery, or has had bariatric surgery. Family and support people are welcome to attend.

  • Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. at 2221 Stockton Blvd, Cypress Building, Suite E.

Join for a free postpartum breastfeeding support group where participants will have the opportunity to share experiences.

  • Every Thursday (except holidays) from 10 - 11 a.m. in the Glassrock Buildling, Room 7106, 2521 Stockton Boulevard

Health Management and Education strives to empower patients and staff with helpful information to improve well-being. Classes on diabetes self-management, heart health, weight management, smoking cessation, and more are offered at various locations in the Sacramento area. Class locations and times vary.

This group class is for individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease and also for family and caregivers who want to learn more information. It is open to all UC Davis Medical Center patients working with the nephrology team and to the public. 

Caring for Your Kidneys

Healthy eating information for kidney disease is presented by a Registered Dietitian and information on dialysis and transplant is presented by nephrology nurses. 

  • Classes are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Food and Nutrition Services has collaborated with the Academic and Staff Resource Program (ASAP) to implement a nutrition wellness series. ASAP offers free staff wellness workshops, called “Learn at Lunch.” 

The nutrition wellness talks are led by Registered Dietitians who present on nutrition related topics that are practical and current for our fellow UC Davis Health employees and families.

  • Offered during the lunch hour, between 12 - 1 p.m.
  • All classes are advertised on The Insider and hosted near or in the main hospital
  • Anyone interested in attending can register on the Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being program website.

Living Fit Forever is UC Davis Health’s employee wellness program that has daily exercise classes and monthly wellness courses including nutrition courses.

Registration is free on the Living Fit Forever website.

Robard Numetra is a non-surgical weight loss program offered at UC Davis Bariatric Surgery Clinic.  This is a full meal replacement program with nutritionally complete products.  This very low calorie diet (VLCD) causes the body to burn fat for energy.  The medically monitored program requires participants to come to clinic to pick up their products every 1-2 weeks and participate in virtual weekly visits with dietitians.

Classes are available to all UC Davis Health Pediatric Diabetes patients. All classes occur on the 7th floor of the Glassrock Building. Email Sultanna Iden or Erin Conboy Heiser for enrollment and the schedule of current classes.

There are three Pediatric Endocrinology classes: 

  • Introduction to Insulin Pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitors—for patients and families to consider insulin pump therapy, what it is, and what it isn’t.
  • Advanced Pump Class—for families with insulin pumps to better use the advanced functions and insider tips to attain stable blood sugar.
  • Diabetes in the Real World—learn how to adjust insulin levels depending on blood sugar trends, how to treat sick days, and how to manage nutrition and exercise effectively.
