How are Patients With Bleeding Disorders Referred to the Hemophilia Treatment Center?
Family Awareness
Two-thirds of the time, there is a family history of hemophilia or other bleeding disorder and the family will self-refer.
Professional Referrals
Primary care physicians, surgeons, OB/GYNs, and emergency room personnel have access to the UC Davis Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) for consultation, recommendations, and follow-up appointments for comprehensive services. These consultations occur because their patients are noted to have a potential bleeding problem when they are screened for surgical procedures.
