Vision and Mission Action Statement
Our vision is to develop and nurture a community where everyone can reach their full potential in the Medical Microbiology and Immunology Department, UC Davis. We provide resources that promote equal access and opportunity for all people in order to achieve a prosperous society, and we advocate for policies that promote diversity and inclusion in the UC workforce. Our goal is to empower all members of our community in order to remove barriers throughout our campus caused by social injustice, inequality, and racial trauma. We are committed to engaging the voices of our community to promote equality and compassion for all.
Mission EPIC Statement
As a committee, we recognize the present social injustices and racism that still exist within our nation, and embrace the rich perspectives and experiences that arise from racial, ethnic, socio-economic, sexual, gender and religious diversity within our MMI community. In this spirit, we are eager to serve our students, post-doctoral scholars, scientists, professors, and staff in the following capacities:
- EMPOWER individuals from underrepresented groups throughout the department and student programs.
- PROVIDE better resources for their educational plans and career development.
- INVITE, recruit and retain more underrepresented individuals into our programs through mentorship opportunities.
- CARE for and listen to those affected by inequity to foster unity and support.
