It is my honor and pleasure to introduce you to our UC Davis Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am excited to share what makes us unique in the Northern California region.

We are a mission-driven group of faculty, trainees (residents and fellows) and staff who are committed to providing the highest quality clinical services that includes the breadth of practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. We serve the broad and diverse population in the Sacramento region. encompassing Northern California to the Oregon border, the Central Valley, and the Sierra Nevada region to the Lake Tahoe basin.

Department Missions:

  • We strive to be the leaders in obstetric, gynecologic, and reproductive health for women of all ages through excellence in clinical care, education, and research.
  • Promote the highest standard of obstetric, gynecologic, and reproductive health through personalized clinical care based on the latest research and innovation.
  • Create future leaders in obstetric, gynecologic, and reproductive health and enhance life- long learning for all health professionals.
  • Conduct research that provides evidence to expand the boundaries of our knowledge and improve the quality of obstetric, gynecologic, and reproductive healthcare.
  • Promote, support, and celebrate diversity in patient population and ourselves. As we care for one of the most diverse regions in the US, we strive to reflect those who we have the privilege to serve through active training and promotion. We strongly support reproductive justice for our patients in its many manifestations.

Department Vision:

Empowering women to achieve healthier lives. It all starts here.

As you peruse our website, I hope you will discover how our Department members engage with our Sacramento community and Northern California region. Our Department has high national rankings based on surveys by U.S. News & World Report (Obstetrics and Gynecology, #21 in 2022), Best Maternity Hospital (Newsweek, 2023), and high regional rankings for our faculty physicians (16 listed in 2022).

You will also find our prominence as:

  • We provide a wide range of clinical services from specialty and subspecialty services. Notable among the subspecialty services that we lead include: the multi-disciplinary Fetal Care and Treatment Center (FCTC), Prenatal Diagnosis Centers, innovative clinical trials in Family Planning, Gynecologic Oncology, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and Quality Improvement projects aligned with the California Maternity Quality Care Collaborative.
  • Researchers in basic and translational science and clinical outcomes research
  • Educators for medical students, residents, and subspecialty fellows
  • Leaders both within UC Davis Health, the Northern California region, and nationally.

Some of you will be interested to join our staff, residents/fellows, and faculty. I hope you will consider joining our family here in the OB/GYN Department.
