Adolescent medicine is a developmentally grounded subspecialty that focuses on the care of patients between the ages of 10 and 26 years old. It covers the medical, psychological, and social-environmental aspects of adolescent and young adult (AYA) health and wellness.
Adolescence is a period of significant growth, development, and transition. It is the time through which adolescents and young adults learn, grow and develop their sense of health norms, health desires and health expectations within the simultaneous course of their individual identity formation.
Our UC Davis adolescent medicine subspecialty trained, and board-certified providers are well-equipped to engage in these aspects, while maximizing both short and long-term health outcomes for their patients. Adolescent medicine physicians uniquely incorporate physical, psychological, social and developmental aspects into the care and treatment plan for our patients.
A physician referral is required to be seen by our adolescent medicine physicians.
